Do not screw around with HDMI cabling. It is too quirky outside of 1920 by 1080p.
Use a Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt subset) to (full size) DisplayPort cable, cheap and trouble-free.
THANKS AGAIN
So i can use a mini display port from the monitor to the 5870 mini display ports?
I'm not clear on "full size DisplayPort cable"
Thanks
ok I think i got it....is this the cable?
That is not your cable -- that is an "extension cord" cable. You need a "standard" male-to-male.
"DisplayPort" commonly means mean full-sized DisplayPort.
Full-size DisplayPort is electrically compatible with Mini Displayport and ThunderBolt subset (same small connector as on your 5870 display card).
Cables like these, all under US$10:

.
Get a cable that has a male mini displayport on one end and a male displayport on the other end.
Your monitor

has
HDMI™ | 2 |
---|---|
Headphone Out | 1 |
Display Port | 1 |
ThunderBolt | 2 |
Resolution | 3440x1440 |
---|
