I have a strange problem occurring frequently these days... I cant open some of my folders (apps etc).
When I open them the window stays blank and the machine seems to search forever...
Files are still here, after a restart most of the time it works.
Did the usual maintainace (Maintainance scripts, file permissions..), even cloned the system to a new ssd, beacause my old fusion drive made problems.
Any Ideas???

Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the new user method anyway; it seems to work there.
Disabling extensions is a bit of a problem, I tried clean my mac, but there is so much stuff that I'm not sure what I can unsinstall without causing even more problems...
I was thinking about moving some of my settings to the new user account, but have to find out the best method, as I have so many settings for backups, shortcuts, streamlined app interfaces etc....
I tried to do a hardware diagnostic by booting with the D key pressed but that does not seem to work....

Another thing thats strane... my console is flooded with these messages (and there seems to be a conection between Adobe CC usage and the folder content not showing up problem)

Did you try booting into the Safe Mode? Results?
You do not need to use cleaning programs. They can destroy your computer operation as they may already have done.
After un-installing, use this program to make sure you got all the pieces.
Yes, tried safe mode a few times anyway, after that it works for a while, but troubles come back.
Sorry, but I don`t understand your easy find suggestion, the funny thing is: Spotlight works just fine, even if a folder content does not show up, I still can search for the contents of that folder and get results inside that window...

After a complete, clean Re-Install of my system & apps I still had the Problems. Then my Mac was checked for hardware issues for 3 days by technicians. still did not work. Now I found out, that my synology server seems to cause the problem; as soon as its file services are turned off, everything works just fine. I copied my keychain file from the old system, that may also have been part of the problem. Turned off afp on the synology server now, because it seems to make problems. At least I have an idea now, how to solve the troubles. I seems, as soon as the finder tries to connect or list a folder on the server, it also does not show some folder contents on my local disks. strange.
