I want to move some files from on folder to another and when I try to do it on my mac (13" Pro 2015 El Capitan 10.11.2) it takes ages, as it its copying them.
When I do it on my Windows 7 PC it does it almost immediately.
If anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

How is the drive formatted, for Windows, or OS X?
NAS add another layer of interface between operating system commands and actions. I am guessing if you used a regular external drive it would not take as long. NAS also tend to primarily be designed for the larger PC market and while they work for Macs it is probably not in an optimal manner.
The drive is formatted to FAT32.
Just and example I just moved a 250mb file and it took 3 minutes. A week ago on my PC I was moving folders around on the NAS that were minimum 10Gb and they were done almost instantly.
Just to make it clear its not from my mac to the NAS, its NAS folder A > NAS folder B
Both a Mac and a PC should be able to read/write to a FAT32 drive without assistance.

I know you are doing this internally on the NAS but the speeds you mention sound like a transfer over USB2.
Usually I just see issues about using a NAS with iTunes but I wonder if it is wider problem? Anyway, my first suspicion is the interface software between the NAS and the Mac.

It certainly does seem to be a slow transfer rate

The NAS is a Zyxel NSA325 v2. The drives themselves I can't remember the exact model, but they were cannibalised from two 2Tb SEAGATE expansion drives, that were 2 separate model years, and not the most current ones either.
