Is my iPod touch 5th gen "dead"?

Recently found my iPod after 1 and a half years of losing it. I restored it via iTunes, but now I'm stuck on activation lock.

However, from what I've read, there is 0 point in phoning Apple as they just say they cannot do anything, is this true?

Also, before I restored the ipod, I removed Find My iPod first try, and proceeded to restore. Once I tried to setup, its locked and my Apple ID supposedly doesnt it.

Apple support doesnt even have the correct catagory, honestly pathetic.
