Double login after screensaver or sleep

I have a MBP on Yosemite and recently changed the password for my device. I was on my company's VPN when I made the change and it's not first time I've done so, previous changes were all successful.

This time, after immediately after changing the password, when my Mac goes to sleep or the screensaver initiates, I get a login screen like normal but after entering my login, it brings me to the main select user to login screen and I need to login again. After logging in the second time, it's as if the Mac rebooted itself and anything that was open before sleep or screensaver is lost. I can't find anyone reporting a similar behavior, any help is very much appreciated!!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), null
