Booting installation right after partitioning not working

Hello guys,

After creating the USB installer (windows 7) with bootcamp and partitioning, the mac reboots. It should automatically load the installer from the drive but it doesn't.

I tried holding down the ALT key, managed to start the installation and get through copying and expanding windows files but when it came to booting again (part of the installation process) it went back straight to El Capitan.

I'm having a Macbook Pro 9.2 (mid 2012) with an SSD Samsung drive.

Anybody knows how to fix this issue?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

If you use Alt/Option, then you must manually select Windows on the internal disk 4-5 times. Otherwise the BCA should run this automatically.

Is your USB a USB2 flash drive? Any other type of USB will not work on your model.

Thanks for the fast reply!

It's a USB3.0 apparently. Should I try installing via a DVD then? Or try and stay by the computer and when it comes to rebooting hold down the option key and select the Windows partition?

Otherwise the BCA should run this automatically.

Apparently BCA is not booting it, not automatically at least 😟.

If you do not have access to a 8+GB USB2 flash drive, then using a physical DVD is an option on a 2012 Mac with an Optical drive.
