How can I access the internet with my Apple TV

Is it possible to access the Internet with my Apple TV which I can do with my Smart TV and My Macbook Pro laptop ?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), HP Officejet J4680 All-In-One

Do you mean to browse web pages?

If so AppleTV 1-3 have no such capability/ AppleTV 4 does not have this capability built-in, if there is a browser app for it however you might be in luck.

Thank you for your assistance. I think it is terrible that apple TV in this day and age is not able to connect to the internet when a Smart TV can do this. Apple should be ashamed

What do you want to achieve using the ATV to connect to the internet that cannot be done using your Apple laptop?

Such browser access on smart TVs is terrible, for those that really need it they can use mirroring.

I mainly use my laptop in my 2nd floor office. It would sometimes be more convenient to look up something on the internet with my ATV.

You want it to act as another computer...

Yea they do not offer a browser. Not sure if it is possible via a 3rd party app. I will have to check out TVOS development and see if it supports an in app browser function like on the iPhone and iPad. If it does, maybe there is an idea for a TVOS app...
