Only the Hosts get to make that determination. You sound like an eight year old screaming, "I know you are but what am I" when he has been insulted and doesn't have a clever comeback.

Feb 11, 2016 5:38 PM in response to zenmanicby Trent D,Most of this thread is off-topic since the original post was a question of how to "fix" a problem and the only acceptable answer is to go to Apple, which will provide one solution and one solution only - buy another phone. That's not a "fix", it's a sales tactic. All of the posts about "fixing" it have been removed for being "bad" or "questionable" advice.
Excuse me for pointing out the obvious, but Ossalv16 didn't ask how to replace the phone, they asked how to fix it. Since those types of responses are obviously not allowed, why even allow questions related to "fixing", since the only answer is, "take it to Apple"?

And now you feel how i feel about the rest of the posts in this thread.

Feb 11, 2016 5:52 PM in response to zenmanicby zenmanic,Water damage restoration steps
- Do not try to turn on the device, or plug it in to charge or back it up to a computer. Doing so can send electricity to circuit pathways surrounded by water and cause more damage.
- Do not put the wet device in rice or any other desiccants as doing so accomplishes little and wastes valuable time. Time is not your friend once the phone hits the water. Do not waste it!
- As soon as possible, remove the battery. On some phones, this is relatively easy, others, not so much. If you don’t have the tools to remove the battery, get it to someone who can right away.
Also understand, Apple does not recover information.
Apple will not help you with your information if its not backed up. For a liquid damaged phone where you need the information you do have options with the many third parties that repair at more advanced levels than Apple. Apple has chosen to replace devices versus repairing devices.
If you have a backup.
Replacing the device through Apple is possible for a discount price. Third parties also offer repair options but research is needed to find a reputable business.
At the risk of being different... heres to being on topic. Mostly for others not wanting to read the complete thread

Feb 11, 2016 5:53 PM in response to Trent Dby deggie,Your post here is why I can't take you seriously. Replacing the iPhone with a service replacement model is "fixing" the problem. If you want to attack Apple's policies and make claims like this go back to your 3rd party repair forum and make your accusations there. And take your liberal demands that the government get involved with you. (Yes, I know you weren't the one who discussed this). Just reading the posts from the 3rd party repair community would lead me to trust maybe two of you (you are one of the two) and I would never have any dealings or make any recommendations on the others.
Give me a reasonable way that I can recommend someone to a certified 3rd party repair shop and I'm more than happy to send someone there who needs the data from their phone. For those who backed up I will always send them to Apple. If it is an iPhone 4 I'll recommend they buy a newer model. You guys aren't brave heroes brandishing soldering items that are doing the brave deed of repairing the logic board rather than replacing the phone. The ones of you that know your stuff won't be involved in the Error 53 business. And Apple isn't going to provide you with schematics or Touch ID parts.
So Trent, if people come here and I do this will you be satisfied:
"If you have not backed up your data and you will lose data and it is highly important to you talk to friends, family, etc and find a reputable 3rd party repair site that says they can recover your data. Don't delay in doing this. Make sure the shop has a written warranty and that they ensure you if they cause Error 53 to appear and Apple refuses to work on your iPhone due to 3rd party parts or service that they will replace your iPhone with the same model or better."

Feb 11, 2016 5:58 PM in response to Csound1by zenmanic,No real correct answer, since it is different with every case. Instant damage or no damage depending on where the liquid went on the inside. But the easy answer is time is not on your side. Electricity and water don't mix. Getting the battery unplugged as fast as possible is highly important.
