It's like a regular tea party in here.

He's long gone. He pulled the pin and left.

Feb 10, 2016 3:24 PM in response to Philly_Phanby Harrington Repair,It is very sad that good quality advice is deleted and terrible, non constructive, or helpful in any way posts are kept.

Mac OS XTrent's was not good quality advice. But we've been through that, and it's clear we will have to agree to disagree.

Feb 10, 2016 2:48 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Harrington Repair,It may have been advice you dont agree with, but from what I remember he was as careful as possible to not violate any terms of use. Same with MendoniPadRehab. They both took time out of their day to try to help a consumer with their problem. They posted coherent, well thought out posts. If we knew that posting about repair was something that wasnt allowed, then we would not be here. But the TOU didnt say we were not allowed to. I understand that Apple doesnt like repair. They would rather get you a new device. But this is one of the few places Google will take you if you ask a question about your iphone. I feel that knowledge is more important than anything. And if the only advice out there is "go to apple" then a lot of people are not following the right path. Apple does not have all the solutions. In fact there are many instances where apple is the clear cut wrong choice.

Feb 10, 2016 3:31 PM in response to Harrington Repairby Philly_Phan,To be honest, I didn't read their posts in detail. Many of their posts were simply too voluminous. Making matters worse, they neglected to separate their thoughts into paragraphs and the result appeared to be nothing more than rambling.
If a post is exceptionally difficult to read, I don't read it.

Mac OS XThey are in my email trash. The point is this is a technical support forum, not a blog, not a general venting forum, not a place where discussion of Apple policy is permitted. His or her posts were long and rambling, touching on many points. There was some advice buried among all the verbiage, but it was hard to find. Posts that focus on solutions, whether Apple agrees with them or not (excepting jailbreak advice), or that are questions, even if they are phrased negatively, are not generally removed. Personal attacks are removed. Inappropriate language is removed. Lawsuit threats are removed (to protect the poster; it's a very bad idea make your intentions known; sue or don't sue, but don't talk about it as it can compromise your legal standing). The individual also essentially stuck a target on his or her back, so the hosts started tracking the username. Normally hosts don't read forum threads unless a user reports them (anyone with over 150 points can report posts). But you and the dozen or so other independent repairers who joined at about the same time are most likely being watched very closely. FWIW, Posts from high point users are removed sometimes also; there's actually a discussion about that in the private forum for Level 6 and up users at the moment. (No, I'm not violating an NDA; see: Award points, level up, and earn new privileges)

In fact, medonipadrehab posted a lot of stuff that was downright bad advice, including taking a phone apart when all the OP probably needed to do was clean out a charging port with a toothpick. Just because you do know how to take a phone apart doesn't mean it ought to be the first thing that you recommend someone do (or have done) when they have a problem. And, as this thread indicates, suggesting that people have their devices repaired by anyone but Apple or someone authorized by Apple without making it very clear that there is a downside and what it is borders on fraud.

Bravo Lawrence! Someone who knows how to use the word "verbiage" correctly! I suffer daily listening to the Business people I have to work with throwing this word around when they mean "wording". It is so refreshing to actually see it used correctly! You made my day
