Is there a tab button or some way of indenting using the keyboard . Must I use the space bar....so tedious.

on an Ipad2 using the e mail application
Not on the built in keyboard (to the best of my knowledge). Probably because, in general typed communication, it's not used that much anymore. Block formatting (no indent at the beginning of a paragraph) is more common.
You might want to take a look at some of the many third party keyboards that are available. Or use a bluetooth keyboard.
