Keeping date information with Photos

Hi,

I have an iPhone and a Macbook Pro. The way I transfer photos from my iPhone to my Macbook harddrive is through Photos. I plug in my iPhone to my Mac and when Photos comes up I drag the photos from Photos to my Mac harddrive. When I do so I lose the date and time stamp from my photo. How do I keep this?
