Apple are you seriously not letting me use my REAL name as my username because of the last 4 letters?!
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
Hello, Shannon Lee Mitchell, (Just testing)
You are not communicating with Apple here; this is a technical forum manned by users like yourself. If my test above gets the same treatment I think you should write to Apple support. Meanwhile I will take the matter up elsewhere on your behalf, but it would be your complaint to Apple support that would get it changed, if that is at all possible.

Well, this far so good. the banned word is heii
Maybe they are going to have to take the name cop out behind the barn and beat him severely
Thank you Leonie, that does seem a pretty conclusive answer. But it also shows that the consecutive letters theory may only apply to a user name.
But I have seen some printed names containing the four letters we most associate with bans (F***). I think Shannon should formally approach Apple anyway ... or as an alternative, if unsuccessful, use the two i's to replace the l's. That of course, shows how foolish using an auto decision can be.
I think between the two of us we have got as near as can be without an Apple change of heart. It would be nice to hear Shannon's views.
You solved it nicely 🙂
In this day & age I wouldn't use my real name online anywhere.
I had this issue too with my username being my real name (the string 'kum' is banned from usernames but it let me set my username when I used a zero-width space character between the 'u' and the 'm'.
EDIT: I guess the space wasn't zero-width after all...
I would agree with BD Aqua: you really should consider NOT using your real name anywhere online, especially in an open public forum. Today's penchant to hack/steal anything online just makes it more likely that your name may be stolen or used for nefarious purposes.
