I downloaded an iso to my desktop and I burned it to a disc. I downloaded the upgrade files to a usb drive. When I click continue, it says "Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized." I have the disc inserted, and I also have the disc from the iso on my desktop, but it doesn't seem to recognize either. I have a 2011 iMac with the latest El Cap.
Can you verify the integrity of the ISO using MD5 and comparing it to the source of your ISO? Disconnect the USB with BC drivers, because it can cause problems for DVD-based installations.
Hi Loner T. I have never used MD5 and really don't know how.
Run Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal. Go to the folder where the ISO is located and use the following command. The example uses the Desktop folder.
openssl md5 ~/Desktop/Windows8.1-64bit.cdr
MD5(/Users/MyName/Desktop/Windows8.1-64bit.cdr)= f104b78019e86e74b149ae5e510f7be9
I am using Win 7, so I'll just sub that for the 8.1. What file type is cdr? The iso i have is named Windows7.iso.
Or do I open the iso and give it a cdr name?
CDR is a read-only Disk Image. It is the same as an ISO.
