How much broadband data is used to download El Capitan

My access to the internet is unfortunately and unavoidably my iPhone as a hotspot. But I want to upgrade my Mac to El Cap. Sooo, it it possible to tell how much broadband data is required to download the new system? IIRC, it is a six Gb install. But is the download compressed?
