Photos & Camera storage will not go down no matter how many photos/videos I delete

I checked my storage and it said my photos and camera was at 1.2 GB which I found weird since I don't even have that many on my phone. So I went in and deleted about half my videos and photos (after uploading them to Flickr) but the amount of space being used for "Photos & Canera" is still showing 1.2 GB. What's' going on?! Thanks.
