Transfer Music to Android phone

Hi

I am having to use an android phone for the time being after smashing my iPhone. The phone I have got is a Samsung Galaxy S6 running 5.1.1 Lollipop, when i plus it into my macbook air to transfer music the device isn't being recognised. Any ideas? The macbook is running OS X El Capitan.
