I am trying to control my 10.4.11 machine from Mac OS X 10.10.4. Remote Desktop is enabled, I vnc into it and see the screen, but it the options to enable control are grayed out on my window of the 10.4.11 machine. I know I could do this with iChat, but I would like the be able to do this with remote desktop like I can with 10.6 and later. Any clues as to why the mouse control is grayed out, and what to do about it?
In the Access Sharing Window of Remote Desktop, what users are listed, & are they checked?
If no Users you must add at least one, if the ON box isn't checked for a user then all options to the right will be grayed out.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Sharing on my 10.4.11 machine.
I select Apple Remote Desktop. I see an Access Privileges button. When selected, it gives me these choices:

I can't tell & not on 10.10 right now But have used the same from 10.10.5 & 10.11.2 in the past...
Oh, in Sharing do you have Remote Login & Remote Apple Events enabled?
Yes I do. I have nothing though in the Computer information Info fields in the Access Privileges field. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Yours have EM8 and em142 at the bottom of the window.
I was able to use my 10.6.8 to control 10.4.11 without hesitation. Wonder why Yosemite is so different.
Note: I requested this thread be moved to Yosemite Networking, as it is uniquely a Yosemite issue, and not Tiger, nor Apple Remote Desktop retail package issue. We are still trying to get it to function properly under Yosemite Networking as it works fine under Snow Leopard, but Yosemite is currently my primary operating system, and I occasionally need to access Tiger on another Mac that can't get into Yosemite.

I thought I had posted it elsewhere. Regardless, it has been moved. Still just wanted to know why I'm unable to control my 10.4.11 desktop from 10.10.4 the same way I am able to from 10.6.8 via a vnc:// connection.

That would be too much trouble. I have one router, my Verizon FiOS router.
Works the same 10.10.5 to 10.4.11 here...
So, are you logging in as a user that exists on the 10.4.11 Computer?
