Q: Why the Crazy Scrolling?

My iMac has a problem that Irritates me, almost-to No End.  It scrolls briefly but-Wildly, say in Pages.  (This happens here-in Firefox, too.)

Lately, I've thought that my Internet connection might be the culprit.  (Not by _my_ choice, I use Charter Internet.  I live in Asheville, NC.)  Could this be, please?

I think that it's easier to ask here & to learn if anybody else has a similar experience.  I believe that to ask here is easier than to test this myself.  (It is good practice at writing.)  Thank you.  :-)

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), 4 GB of RAM

if your on a laptop and using the trackpad try cleaning it

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204172

if you are using a mouse you can adjust the settings in >System Preferences...>Mouse

if they appear to be nominal and you are still experiencing issue the mechanism in the mouse may be at fault. Try replacing with another USB mouse if one is available to try.

I don't think your ISP is the culprit. Charter may be garbage but NC is full of crap providers, mine included and I wouldn't be surprised if Knobby could provide me with better service.

Just to add, I don't see how your ISP could affect scrolling in Pages.

Hello, JimmyCMPIT?  You wrote, "if you are using a mouse you can adjust the settings in >System Preferences...>Mouse".  YADA, YADA, YADA:  I have, already.  I made the tracking Painfully Slow, but my screen would still go Zip.  (It does this Right-here, too.)

And you typed, "Try replacing with another USB mouse if one is available to try."  This means, $pend!  But my problem irritates me just a-little.  I get used to it1

But I feel Relief, with:  "I don't think your ISP is the culprit."  Thank you, JimmyCMPIT.  :-)
