iMac 21 inch mid 2010 with OSX 10.9.5 4 GB

Have inherited a Imac 21 inch mid 2010 with OSX 10.9.5 running - I don't know much about Mac computers so no idea if snow leopard etc or what !

this iMac doesn't have iCloud drive available to sync with latest iPhones etc.

Is it possible to upgrade the operating system on this iMac to run the latest apps & iCloud etc

Don't really know where to start....

Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), 4bg 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3

You have OSX Mavericks. The next OS is 10.10 Yosemite and 10.11 El Capitan.

You can upgrade the OS for free with Macs by opening the App Store on the computer. When you click "Updates," there will be a big window that shows the next OSX update for your computer.

On a computer from 2010, the newer Operating Systems might seem slower. It really depends on the state of your hard drive and also the RAM. With 4GB of RAM, you shouldn't have a problem (each OS only requires 2GB). However, and older hard drive may have trouble keeping up with the demands of the OS, thus making the computer slower.

The best thing to do is make a back up of any data you have on the computer and then just go for it. Worst comes to worst you can always restore the computer with your back up.
