ipad retina keeps rebooting

Just updated my ipad retina, 16 gb, wifi to the latest iOS9. My ipad had been sitting for approx 2 months not used, because I had been having rebooting issues. I updated it and it worked fine for about 20 minutes. It started rebooting again. It reboots to the startup screen. How can you tell if its a software or hardware problem? The internet has quite a few people with this problem. Has Apple looked into it or is this another instance of planned obsolescence.

Restore to factory settings as a new device (don't restore a backup): Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

If the iPad still reboots there is a hardware problem. If it is stable, try restoring the backup - if it starts rebooting again, the data in that backup is corrupted and you'll have to start over as a new device.

I've rest it as a new ipad numerous times with the same resuls. My next step is to replace the logic board. I've been dealing with the rebooting for 8 or 9 months. Thanks for your help.
