There hasn't been a version of IE for the Mac for a decade. You have to run it in Windows, but even Microsoft have dropped it.

I take it you didn't look at the link I posted. It's from Oct 2015 and it works.
No. It doesn't work, actually. Not any more.

So olrobok, if you follow the directions on the link I posted, you can run the Edge (IE12) browser on your Mac.
😉
I can just feel the pent up demand for some more MS on the Edge.

😁

I guess technically the Edge browser isn't IE
I think of it as Internet Explorer 12. 😁
You can think of it any way you like. The fact is that anything that requires IE will not work in Edge.

Gee, Anything that requires something else to run will not run in something other than what's required.
Thanks for the explanation.
I'm almost over my head here. Thank you for your responses. I have discovered I need IE because much technical stuff in the car biz will ONLY run on IE. I was able to get into IE and see what I need by downloading Parallels Desktop V11.1.2 (665.5mg), Parallels Access Version 3.0.2 (273.1mg), a test version of Windows 10 (which apparently is in Parallel?) and loaded that with Adobe Reader for PDF's... all so I can see manufacturers' service manuals, which ONLY run on IE.
I have been testing Azure but there is a subscription fee (or some such thing) for its use and Azure was too complicated for me.
So for the time being and with great trepidation and a feeling of irony, I have loaded this monstrous batch of software onto my sweet, virgin PC-free Mac so I can have the privilege of using the MS monster I spent a couple years getting away from.
Ha! And you all can see where I'm at in the ratings scale under my lovely profile pic: Level 0, points 0! How true.
If what you need to read is in PDF format you don't need IE, Parallels or Windows. You just need Preview or Adobe Reader.
Well remember, you're dealing with a zero level zero points guy here... but the reason I need IE is that when I open the tech docs with Chrome or Safari and click on something, I can see a title page but it won't allow me to navigate - at all. When I click on the same thing in my new test set-up with my virtual PC, IE and PDF for Windows, it works. I can navigate around the manuals and see all the pictures. These manufacturers' websites often say the same thing, "This works only with Internet Explorer, will not work with other browsers."
I think I'm stuck... and from my research around the web, other people in my position say the same thing. Mac addicts argue with them but I haven't found Preview or Adobe on my Mac to be of any use for this particular problem.
I open other docs with my PDF reader on my Mac. For some reason, I assume having to do with Adobe Reader using IE, the stuff I need to see is useful only with Windows-based software. At least that's my experience so far.
And thank you all for your input, I have tried the link Databrain posted above to OSXDaily. I was there already in my travels researching this. OSXDaily is how I got involved in Azure, which I wasn't able to figure out. I couldn't do anything with it.
Do you happen to know what the file format is for the documents you need IE? The extension.
Thank you... I'll have to work on what file extensions... one manual says this: "Builder’s Guide works best using Internet Explorer and Adobe Reader This web site does not support the Apple Safari browser. Use of other browsers requires that the correct plugins be loaded."
So maybe I can use a "correct plugin" with Chrome but my earlier research indicated navigating is easiest with IE.
