can i view an itunes backup?
can i look at the contacts in an iphone backup on itunes, without restoring to the iphone? is there anyway to view them (to find an old contact i have since erased on my iphone).

There are some third party tools that can extract data from iOS backups, but if you've synced the device since removing the contact then it is likely gone. iTunes for Windows normally keeps one rolling backup for each device until such time as you restore a backup, when the restored backup is archived and a new rolling backup is created.
