There is no serial for Logic Pro X .....

As far why Logic is crashing...

There are a few possibilities in regards to the recent 10.2.1 update..

1) You have previously moved some of Logic's Content to an external drive and you used Aliases instead of Symlinks?

2) You have Melodyne 4 installed... (A fix is needed from Celemony to resolve this so uninstall it until then or roll back to Logic Pro X 10.2 using your backups..)

3) You need to update your Audio Drivers for the Duet to the latest version..

http://www.apogeedigital.com/support/duet-ios-mac

4) You need to update any 3rd party Instrument and FX plugins you have installed...

5) You have a corrupted preference file...

You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:

  1. Quit Logic Pro X
  2. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
  3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
  4. Press the Go button.
  5. Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this.
  6. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
  7. Restart the computer.

Note: If you cannot find any of the files listed above, you didn’t follow the instruction correctly! 🙂

6) You may have a corrupted database file... ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Databases (in your User Account)

Make a copy of this Databases folder to a different location and then delete the original. Now restart your Mac and test...

Hi Nigel: I have followed your instructions, but with no success. You know? I think this has been caused by the latest upgrade apple made to Logic X. I downloaded the latest apogee software, deleted the plist files etc. If I were to install the software all over again how should I proceed? If I delete all the application files how will I prove to apple I had bought this software in the first place since I dont have a serial number? Thanks again.

So long as you are sigtned into the Mac App Store application, using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic Pro X.....

You will find Logic Pro X listed under the Purchase tab in the Mac App Store Application... ready for you to download and install again...

However, given the nature of your issue.. it's unlikely reinstalling Logic Pro X will fix your problems but you can give it a try anyhow...

Just delete the Logic Pro X app from your applications folder.. Empty trash and then restart your Mac.

Check first however, that you do see LPX under the Purchased tab in the Mac App Store...

If you don't then let us know...

If reinstalling doesn't help fix your problems..

Please download and install Etrecheck...

http://etrecheck.com/

Run it and then copy and paste it's report up here.. as that might provide a few clues as to your problem.

Cheers..

Nigel

No, I dont believe so but I would need to see the whole etrecheck report to know for sure...

However,

Create a new Admin User Account in OS X's System Preferences > Users & Groups

Sign out of your normal account and sign into the new account..

Lauch Logic and see if it all works normally...

If it does then see this thread... for one solution that seems to work for a few users who have this issue...
