Can send a text message from my i5s but can't send the same person a message from my iPad. Person I want to send text to uses android. In the past I have sent this same person a message from iPad but won't work now. What's up with that?
The devices have to be logged into the same Apple ID, Bluetooth has to be on, and then you can activate Text Message Forwarding on the iPhone. That is found in Settings>Messages and then you will follow the steps to select the iPad. Once you do that, you will be able to send an SMS from the iPad.
iPad is not a phone so it cannot send SMS. SMS uses phone line to send text messages to your recipient.
There is a way for iPad to send SMS via iPhone, see below.
On iPhone
Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding > your iPad here.
