MySQL ODBC connector for Intel Mac's

I am looking for a MySQL ODBC connector for my new MacBook (universal or intel). The MySQL site does only provide a PPC version of the connector, which does not work on Intel Mac's (Rosetta doesn't emulate it correctly ?).

I tried the Actual ODBC connector demo, which works fine, but it's a pay version. I'm looking for a free connector.

Bullsh*t, ODBC is not a Windows thing at all. It's a
standard and open protocol to access a database. See
www.mysql.org for more info.

OK, I will.... On www.mysql.org, it says:
Typically, you need to install Connector/ODBC only on Windows machines. For Unix and Mac OS X you can use the native MySQL network or named pipe to communicate with your MySQL database. You may need Connector/ODBC for Unix or Mac OS X if you have an application that requires an ODBC interface to communicate with database.. Applications that require ODBC to communicate with MySQL include ColdFusion, Microsoft Office, and Filemaker Pro.

In fact the *TOTALLY
FREE * ODBC connector (driver) provided by MySQL
works well on PPC, but they didn't provide a
Universal version of it yet.

They probably aren't going to provide a Universal version of it ever. The PPC version you have is 3.51, which is built against MySQL 4.0. The 5.00 version of the ODBC connector is stricly Windows only.

I don't care how open and standard it is, only Windows people use it. Even on Windows, people are much more likely to use Access, Oracle, or SQL Server - all of which have better communication methods than ODBC. ODBC is a dead end.

By the way, MySQL is
also totally FREE and totally GREAT !

I agree that MySQL is totally great. But totally free it is not. It is licensed under the GPL for GPL projects and they sell a commercial license for non-GPL projects. A commercial license can range from expensive to really expensive. MySQL is still a better deal and a better product than its competitors - even the big ones like Oracle.

As I said before, if you want an Intel version of the ODBC connector, you are going to have to pay somebody for one, or compile it yourself. Had you been a bit nicer, I would have even helped you to build that Intel port. At this point, you're on your own.
