Set up after new Key Code

I recently lost my Key Code and forgot my password, crazy I know. Anyhow, I received a new Key Code. Followed the procedures as indicated, at least I think I did. Made up new email address and got them entered into Apple account. I changed my info, at least I thought I did in iTunes because it shows up in one spot but then in another it won't change in iTunes. I am not tech savvy which makes it worse, but at least I try. I've read all the community responses and can't find any questions like this one. I've tried to move my photos because Apple says that the phone will be wiped and I don't want to lose anything. Also, is there a way to save contacts?
