What is the other on my macbook and how do i get rid of it?

I'm so frustrated at this point. The other on my macbook is literally eating up all my storage. How is that happening? I keep deleting things and it continues to take more space. How do i fix this?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), iOS 9.2

Here is the definition of OTHER:

You certainly do not want to rid your MBP all of OTHER.

If you want to thin your MBP of data, download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.

Ciao.
