My iPad fell into some weird locked state.

Was watching a video on Hulu in Picture in Picture, and noticed show was almost over, so I went to change it by pressing the button to return to the app. Once I did my screen sort of froze, and I locked it and activated the prompt for it to turn off because it usually fixes it. It did not. My iPad is on the lock screen, but the main part of the screen is black (Can still see top tool bar and power percantage, etc.) with the date occasionally showing up and retaining all triple click functionalities. Tried to let it sleep, didn't work; tried to back-up, but find my iPad was on and I can't turn it off, so my question is, How do I exit the Twilight Zone?

Extra Notes: Lying on bed with ipad in front of body.
