What are you going to use it on, Yvonne? You havent told us which machine you have or its memory (Chrome can simply eat up memory).

You don't have to have Chrome for this tool. Amazon, Google both have it, I believe. Your machine should be okay with Chrome but many people think it is memory absorbing (particularly if you get carried away by the number of extentions available) and that Firefox may be a better option.
Of course, Google is Chrome, I suppose. Go to the Chrome site and the option to download is there.
