Both Numbers and Safari do not work on my Mac. Do I have to download the latest versions of them or can they be fixed?

For over a year now both my Numbers program and Safari cannot open. Do I have to download the latest versions or can they be fixed?

Before you do all the steps below, please confirm information about:

- What Version of Mac OS X are you running?

- What version of Numbers you think you have?

- Have you run all expected updates?

- What happens when you start Numbers (or Safari)?

============== ONLY DO THIS AFTER ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND GETTING CONFIRMATION YOU SHOUDL DO THIS =========

You can re-install Numbers by starting the application "Launchpad". In Launchpad, type "Num" in the search bar at the top of the screen. This will filter apps such that it is easy to locate Numbers. click and hold on Numbers until that icons start to shake. Click the "X" to remove Numbers.

Now type the escape key several times to exit Launchpad.

Open the App store and locate Numbers, then install.
