I am upgrading my mac air, and when doing this it is after two hours still saying ready in 6 minutes. How can I get out of it?

Sometimes it may take more than an hour.
OS X may be doing things we have no way of knowing.

Now I have been waiting for 6 hours. How can I get out of this? Can I delete and get back to my Mac air (I like it evenif it not is upgraded).?
