No. If you could, many people would. The cable company requires you some how verify you are paying them when attempting to use the various channel apps. The content providers and the cable company get paid through cable fees.
And even if you have a service provider - i.e. cable, or satellite, you need to make sure your provider has an agreement with apple. I have Charter Cable and subscribe to HBO Go, Showtime etc. On my iPad HBO Go works - when you activate, Charter is listed. However on my new Apple TV, HBO Go, Showtime, History, Comedy Central and numerous other apps cannot be activated with Charter Cable. Charter says they have an agreement with Charter for HBO Go on iPhone and iPad but not with Apple TV. Makes no sense.
