Copy my iTunes songs to another hard drive as back up

I have an iMac on OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5 and would like to back up my music on a separate hard drive.

I want to leave the music resident on the iMac but have a back up in case of failure.

Thanks

iMac (20-inch Mid 2007), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Your iTunes library is located in Home->Music->iTunes by default. Assuming you have not changed the location from the default simply copy the iTunes folder to your separate drive to back it up.

From Finder select Go in the top menu, then select Home, then select Music. A window will open. Copy the iTunes folder and you’re done.
