Hello,

I have a pretty serious problem. I tried reset my iPhone 5C to factory settings, because it was slowing down a bit, and I thought this would help it. However, it has been going on now for an hour, and I have started to get worried.

I can describe that the screen shows the apple logo with a black background, just like when you turn it on, but after plus/minus 30 seconds, the screen dims, and it fades into nothing. Then it turns on again and the cycle repeats. I don't think this is supposed to happen.

If anyone has heard of this, or know how to fix it, please let me know ASAP. I really need my phone for contacting my parents, as I am at a boarding school.

Try resetting the iPhone.

Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

I tried this multiple times; it does not seem to work. It gives me a black screen, then simply goes back into that cycle. Thanks for replying.

Try recovery mode as described here. You may have to try to enter recovery mode more than once to succeed.

Are you using iTunes 12.3.2? You need a current version of iTunes to interact with iOS 9.

Recovery is your last resort. If you cannot get iTunes to see your iPhone when you perform the recovery steps, and you have tried to initiate a recovery as often as you are going to try, then the next step is to visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center to have your problem diagnosed.

But is the version 12.3.2? Older operating systems will say that you have the latest version, because they don't support 12.3.2. Your OS must be OS X 10.8.5 or Windows 7 or later.

My MacBook Air is fully updated to OSX El Capitan, and iTunes is updated to 12.3.2. I believe these are all the most recent updates.

UPDATE:

I have managed to get my iPhone into recovery mode and have restored everything. Everything is well and working. Thanks everyone who helped!
