use Facetime from iPhone to iMac with same Apple ID?

When a family member has my iPhone (5S) can they initiate a video call to me on my iMac, when both devices have the same Apple ID? I read through some earlier forum threads on this topic and read the instruction page in support. One support thread suggested that I remove my email address from facetime app in order to receive a video call on the mac but Im get a message that the address cannot be removed with message " you will no longer be able to receive Face Time on any device". The instruction page doesn't mention this conflict. Is there any way to do this?
