login issue
27 inch iMac logon issue, when computer is in sleep, it must hove not been shut down for at least 72 hours.
I touch the space bar to wake it up, no problem, then when I go to enter my password in, as soon as I touch a key any key, it acts like I am holding a key down and fills the box with characters then the whole login box vibrates horizontally. The only way I can logon is to hard boot it, shut it down completely then upon rebooting, it works 100% of the time like nothing is wrong and I can log in fine. I have a video as no one seems to be able to understand what was happening, sadly I cannot post it here I guess.
So for months now I have been faced with this issue. After seeing Genius bar Four times and countless advisors on the phone, escalated to senior advisors four times I still have no fix.
Operating system has been reloaded 5 times now, once by Genius bar direct from apple servers, then it was backed up with data only, from time capsule no software, to try to determine a software or hardware issue.
Geniuses, have replaced my keyboard, my track pad even though they passed all the diagnostic tests. Several weeks ago even though the computer passed all the genius test for hardware, they replaced the logic board.
To date no fix, today after my fifth trip to genius bar, it was suggested I try to test it for environmental issues, do not plug in any USB devices just use the keyboard and the trackpad and see if the computer does it again. When it does, record the time and date and any other information regarding what I was doing at the time, like programs running so on and so forth. Then bring it back in again.
Help anyone, my 27 inch iMac is not a laptop and this it getting to be a pain carting it back and forth! Truly though I just would like this resolved, we have two more 27 inch iMacs and 3 macbook pros in house and no issues like this HELP!
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
