Can't download episodes from your feed

Hello, I have looked at other similar threads and I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my feed. All of the download links appear to be valid file URLs. I am still getting the "Can't download episodes from your feed." message though.

Here is my feed: https://www.ashleykoffapproved.com/feed/podcast

It is being generated by a WordPress plugin.

Thanks!

The URL of your top episode's media file is

https://www.ashleykoffapproved.com/podcast-download/19276/episode-10-with-guest- mike-fate.mp3

This works when entered in Safari but when subscribing manually in iTunes it brings up an 'unknown error'. The server has a 302 'temporary redirect' on it and this can cause different reactions from different clients. This page explains the code:

http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E302.html

So basically you need to get rid of this as it's evidently upsetting iTunes. You can check if it's working by subscribing manually in iTunes (something you should always do to check your feed when new or when adding episodes). It's also advisable not to use https (secure connection) but http at the start of the URL.

When you have a question it's better to start your own thread.

The URL of your top media file is

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thegraveyardcowboyatmidnight/2016/02/22/the-graveya rd-cowboy-at-midnight-mysticism-by-evelyn-underhill.mp3

When you enter the URL of your media file in a browser it downloads instead of playing within the browser as it should. This means that although it works in the iTunes application, the Store can't play it within its own page. You need to work out how to set it so that it doesn't force a download. The test is that when you enter the URL in Safari or another browser it plays directly within the browser.

Your main podcast image seems to be OK.

Cowboy,

Share this info with your host.

The command below requests 11 bytes and you should see this near the bottom:

Content-Length: 11 (This simulates the Podcasts app asking for a tiny portion of audio to listen to)

Instead, your host is responding with:

Content-Length: 48726644 (The entire file is being sent, and not just the tiny portion that was requested.)

curl -H Range:bytes=50-60 -I -L http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thegraveyardcowboyatmidnight/2016/02/22/the-graveya rd-cowboy-at-midnight-mysticism-by-evelyn-underhill.mp3

You have no 'enclosure' tags in your feed, containing the URLs of your media files, as required by iTunes. Your files are referenced within the 'content:encoded' tag but iTunes does not read this.

Your media files play in a browser OK, so you need to take whatever steps are necessary to produce 'enclosure' tags. You've constructed your feed in Weebly and I can't advise on that; in Feedburner you could add the tags using Smartcast though in general it's preferable to have the original feed properly constructed.

Thank you for your quick reply Roger! I tried adding the "enclosure" tag "audio files" and "rich media files" on Feedburner using Smartcast, but neither works. Do you think I should try using a different feed burner?

Re-"in Feedburner you could add the tags using Smartcast though in general it's preferable to have the original feed properly constructed." How can I construct the original feed?
