Touchscreen will not work. will not slide. I can not open the device. therefore I can not open an email on the device. how can I resolve this problem?
I am having this issue after the iOS 11 update. iPhone 6 restarted after update, so it requires a password now to unlock. Touchscreen will not work at all. I performed the home+power reset at least 20 times, nothing. Tried to connect to iTunes to restore, but it says that the phone must be unlocked to connect to iTunes.
My issue was that my screen was an aftermarket non-Apple replacement screen. Something about the new update and these aftermarket screens are incompatible. I ended up having to have a refurbished Apple screen put on my phone at my local phone repair shop. An unfortunate $130 later, my phone is working just fine.
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds - no kidding). Once the Slide to Unlock screen displays, see if you can then open the device.

I Have this same issue but resetting the device has not solved the problem. I've also tried erasing and reloading but that doesn't help either. i have an iPhone 6 Plus and this issue started shortly after the iOS 9.3.1 upgrade.
You may have to try the reset several times before the issue goes away.

I also have the same issue, originally had to do the reset phone, worked and 10 minutes-half a hour will stop working, done this on a number of times, then I found out pressing the sleep button on the side to go to sleep mode, then press the home button to go to password screen, the touchscreen will work, then go back to a no response state after a period of time, this is always the case, I believe it's a software issue. My wife has the same issue as well, we have the latest 10.2 software. The screen is clean, and we have turned the phone off/on all the time.
Same issue here, hard reboot did nothing. Trying to call them but they need the serial number! Duh I can't get in to get it!

Your issue is that the Touchscreen will not slide? Because if it is not, then you need to post a new question. This one has already been marked solved.
