Q: Photo without events. . .everything is in one lump, Photo without events. . .everything is in one lump

I had events. . .now everything is just in one big lump, by date, which is irrelevant. . .is there any way to re-create the organization of iPhoto?  Also, the description field will accept long descriptions, but only three/four lines at a time. . .is there any way to expand the description field so the entire description can be seen?  Is there any way for the name of the photo to appear without having to open a separate panel?  So far, all Photo has done is create a mess. . .any advice?  Thanks!

You post is not really clear

but Photos does not have events - it has years/collections/moments adn you can not control them

You can simulate events by importing then going to last import and selecting all and clicking on the + and creating an album of those photos

and photos do not have "names" - they have titles and descriptions, etc - what are you calling the "name"?

Hi, thanks.  I figured out that indeed my old iPhoto events are available just by finding them in the sidebar. . .so that's OK.  But many of them, all of which I gave titles in iPhoto, now appear with no identification unless I open the little Info button (i in a circle). . .the information is there but it doesn't appear with the photo.  All of the photos in iPhoto had titles (which is what I meant by "name"), now those titles don't appear as "title" and I'm asked to "add a title".. .that is, the photo has a title from iPhoto, but it's not appearing as such.  See attached.. . .the title is Sibley Hospital, c. 1900. . .it doesn't seem that Photo transferred the titles from iPhoto to the title field in Photo. . .I'm not sure what field it put those iPhoto titles in. . .going through several 1000 photos and manually moving the material below "Add a Title" (which WAS the title in iPhoto) is a depressing idea. . .any help would be appreciated.

To show titles under the photos in the view menu ==> metadata check title

the handling of metadata is described here - How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support
