Slow wifi speed - must restart daily

Hey!

I've had my fair share of wifi issues in my home. A background story:

I had a Dlink router that worked just swell until I got a new work laptop (MBA). That computer terminated my Internet connection completely several times a day and the only thing I could do was to reboot the router. After extensive testing and no resolution I ended up switching laptops. Things got better. However, within a couple of months I purchased a new MBP, two new Iphones and a new Ipad. All of a sudden I had similar issues; Internet connection was completely terminated on a daily basis. I gave in and purchased an Airport Extreme.

Today:

I never experience a lost Internet connection anymore but speeds drop by 90% on a daily basis (goes from 350 mbit to 35 mbit down and 200 mbit to 50-100 mbit up - yes the up speed is better than down speed). BOTH wifi and wired Internet. Oddly enough, if I change the wifi channels I get about 50% of the initial Wifi AND Etherernet speeds back. However, it is only after a reboot of the Extreme that I will get back to 300-500 down and 200-400 (depending on which unit I test from). After a reboot I won't see this problem again until at least the day after. The frequency depends on how much I'm home and whether or not I'm dependent on high speeds. Since 35 mbit is good enough for the daily facebooking I won't notice the issues until I'm downloading or doing other bandwidth-heavy activities.

What can I do to NOT have to reboot the station all the time?

What is the make & model of the Internet modem that you have the 802.11ac AirPort Extreme connected directly to using an Ethernet cable?

Just so I understand you are saying that the upload/download speeds you are getting are the same whether connected to the Extreme by wire or by wireless? How are you making these measurements?

Hi!

The modem is provided by my ISP and is called Inteno XG6846-R1. To my knowledge it's just used to separate the TV, IP-phone and Internet in my fibre connection.

I use a tp-test (www.bredbandskollen.se - it's a Swedish site that specialise in TP-tests and are leading when it comes to speed statistics for all ISPs in Sweden.)

The speeds are actually greater on wifi than on wired but this is because the only devices I have with a LAN card are either old (Mac Mini) or not really reliable in terms of speed tests (PS4). On a perfect day the PS4 get 130 down and 70 up (estimated by its built in network statistics) and Mac Mini gets 300 down and 120 up. Wifi is around 400 down and 150 up on most units.
