Is it safe to delete AppleSpell?
I'm completely sick of AppleSpell.service hogging my RAM. I've tried some solutions I found online, but they were useless, so I inspected the process and got this:
Process: AppleSpell [76390]
Path: /System/Library/Services/AppleSpell.service/Contents/MacOS/AppleSpell
Load Address: 0x102a93000
Identifier: com.apple.AppleSpell
Version: 1.7.1 (131.1)
Build Info: ProofReader-131001000000000~2
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [116]
I fired up the Terminal, tried to delete AppleSpell and got this:
Mac:MacOS mac$ rm AppleSpell
override rwxr-xr-x root/wheel compressed for AppleSpell?
Is it safe to go ahead? I don't want to see that process popping up ever again.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
