Did i really need to buy Lion to update my MacBook while El Capitan is free (but not compatible) ?

Hi there !

I have an old MacBook on SL. When I go on the appstore, it suggest me to update to El Capitan for free.

This is great, i want to update this old OS because some app are not compatible with it, but when i tried to apply the update, it said to me I need a Core2Duo processor, even this is the case..

So, i thought to update just to Lion, even it's not the last update, it will be greater.

BUT

I really need to buy it ? About 20$ ? While the last version is free ?

I'm sorry but i dont understand your logic.

So, are there a solution to update my mac ?

Cheers !
