why won't my itouch charge or be recognised by the home computer

My iPod touch hasn't been used for a couple of weeks and now won't charge and when i plug it into the home computer (Mac) it's not recognising it. The charging lead is fine when connected to another device.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try another cable

- Try on another computer unless the other device that connects has a lower iOS version

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Check the charging port with a strong light and a magnifier. Clean out any lint or other debris you find with a non-conductive tool such as a toothpick. Then, try again.
