Yosemite and imac mid 2007
I am using 4GB of memory, which is the maximum stated by both Apple and crucial.com. Can i usefully run Yosemite or El Capitan on
my 24" mid 2007 2.4 Ghz imac?

Yes; the actual RAM limit for a mid-2007 iMac is 6GB.

Thanks Niel, i read that somewhere else but crucial.com is not offering that option, saying 4GB is the max,
So i was wondering if my 4GB would be too slow.
Try here. I have bought RAM from this company several times and have always been satisfied.
Cheers folks, am now using El Capitan with only 4GB. It's a bit slow to start up but no problems for my
limited needs so far.
