usb superdrive not accepting discs

I have a MBP 2.4 Ghz iOS 10.11.3 and recently discovered my superdrive will not accept discs. It does not show up in the disc utility but shows up in the system report. The drive makes the normal noise when making the usb connection. It does not have a disc inside it. Any suggestions?

Hello Morbro25,
I understand that you are having a hard time with using your SuperDrive. Let's see if we can get this sorted out.
What you will want to try is inspecting the disk that you are attempting to insert to ensure that nothing is wrong with the disk inserted. If that does not work, you will want to reset the SMC and then try again. Take a look at the articles below for a more in depth troubleshooting as well as ensuring that you meet the system requirements to use the USB SuperDrive.
