iMac setup with SSD and HDD

Hi All,

I have an mid 2011 27" iMac on which I recently added a 240 GB SSD an upgraded the HDD to 2TB

This was done strictly for better performance.

However I would like to set it up in a way that SSD is used only for OS and apps. I would like to have data stored in HDD [2 TB]

I do have read a few other article here suggesting to move the Home folder to the HDD. My concern with this step is would it reduce the benefits of having all ssd as in will it slow down the performance. I read about this in the following article

Please advise what would be the best way to do this setup.

Personally, I keep home folders on the boot drive but simply put all the large

data consumers on an external drive or slower HDDs (movies, large iTunes libraries,

large photo libraries, etc.).

could you tell me what is the best way to do it ? I have managed to move the photos library.

How can I move iTunes library , documents folder, download folder, movies, etc to my hdd?

When I replaced my Superdrive with an SSD that's exactly the article I used to set it up. I simply moved the home folder to the hard drive and used the accounts preference pane to point to it. Easy and fast.

Like I said it's fast. I never tried it with the home folder on the SSD because my home folder is huge and I don't think it's worth it to go through moving all of my libraries and data over. Easier to just move the home folder and tell the system where it is.
