Screensharing stops working after reboot on 10.8 Server

We run a Mac mini on OS X 10.8.5 with Server 2.2.2 installed. The server shares some drives with us and additionally services like DHCP, DNS, FTP, OD.

A few days ago a failed external drive stops the server from working so we had to reboot the hard way. All is working fine again except from screensharing at the server. We can no longer connect to the server. The connection attempt stops after a few (120?) seconds.

The servers console shows:

11.02.16 11:32:29.366 screensharingd[8679]: Authentication: SUCCEEDED :: User Name: xxxxx :: Viewer Address: 192.168.xxx.xxx :: Type: DH

11.02.16 11:34:35.456 screensharingd[8679]: unable to get width and height of display.

We tried restarting, dis- and enabling Screensharing as well as Remote Management, nothing helps.

Is there anything we can do to get this working again?

TIA

Ric

Yes Linc, we use Filemaker Server and a customized application on top. We have to update this application to get it running on newer FM versions as FM 11 will not run on 10.11. But we are on the way to get there. At the end of the day it's a management decision and you are completely right in asking this question.

Turned off Remote Management and switched over to Screen Sharing. It takes about 5 minutes before the server asks for username and password. 2 minutes later the authentication succeeds. Then "connecting" is displayed forever at the client. The server logs "unabel to get width and height" after 2 more minutes.

There's a display connected and detected by the system.

Actually there are two local admins, both are affected as well as network accounts.
