On my old iPhone 4s, i used to get a red notification with a number appear on the icon of the App Store app telling me the number of apps ready for update automatically without me having to open the app to force it to check. This isn't happening any more on my new iPhone 6s.
Is there a setting i have missed to get it to check for updates periodically in the background?

Do you have a 'hide apps' facility? If so, you may have hidden them, in which case I believe that updates will not appear.

I have nothing hidden, nor do i have any restrictions enabled.
I just would like "App Store" to automatically show it has app updates on it's icon without me having to manually open it to force a check.
App Store not showing that updates are available in the background....
