    Hey salalah7,

I Understand that you are wanting to know more about the storage capacity of your iPhone. I found an article that can clear that up for you. The basics is that the you are comparing binary and decimal. So a in decimal, you are looking at 1,000,000,000 bytes to make a gigabyte but in binary that same gigabyte is calculated at 1,073,741,824 bytes. When you add that up, you will end up around 28 gigabytes.

How OS X and iOS report storage capacity

iTunes is backed up to the local disk - depending on whether it is a PC or Mac you are using - you can google and find the location of the iTunes files

In other words - if you move to a new laptop and do not transfer your files - they will not be available

Of course any music you have on your phone will stay but you won't be able to update the songs etc

If you back up to iTunes - pretty much everything is backed up - when I went from iPhone 4 to 5 - the restore put the new phone exactly like the prior one
