Does Apple support iOS application to get deviceID?

HI everyone,

I need to get deviceID while using my app in any apple devices(iPhone, iPAD).

I read some articles apple doesn't allow getting deviceID,

if we try to submit an application which is using deviceID APPLE will reject that application. is that true?
